X-904 Personnel Transfer Device
The standard for offshore personnel transfer. Riders stand on the outside of an aluminum frame, protected by tensioned stainless steel side ropes, with quick-release lanyards instead of harnesses.

A Corpus Christi deck hand saw crews riding cargo nets onto platforms and built something safer. Billy Pugh nets went on to recover Apollo astronauts after splashdown.
